Personal Best Pace (hereinafter: “Personal Best Pace”, “Akkan IT”, “we,” “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our service to track your personal bests across running, cycling, and swimming activities. Heart rate and similar metrics are GDPR “special category” health data.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Password (hashed, encrypted and never stored in plain text)

Fitness Data

When you connect your fitness apps, we collect:

  • Activity data from Strava and Garmin (distances, times, pace, power output, heart rate, timestamps, sport metrics)
  • Personal best records and achievements
  • Activity timestamps and durations
  • Sport-specific metrics (running pace, cycling power, swimming stroke data)

Technical Information

We automatically collect:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device information
  • Log data (access times, pages viewed)

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve our service:

  • Track and display your personal bests across multiple time periods
  • Send you notifications when you achieve new personal bests
  • Enhance your Strava and Garmin activity posts with achievement badges
  • Analyze trends in your performance
  • Improve and optimize our service
  • Provide customer support
  • Communicate important service updates

No data from children under 16.

How We Use Your Information & Legal Bases


Solely for core service:

  • Track/display bests, notifications, badges: Contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Trends/AI predictions: Explicit consent; revocable in settings).
  • Support/improvements: Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • No ads/marketing.
  • AI Processing (EU AI Act) Low-risk AI analyzes aggregates for insights (e.g., pace trends). No personal data trains models without opt-in; outputs are explainable. Object anytime via website.

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose beyond providing our core service to you.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information or fitness data with third parties.

Limited Exceptions

We only share data in these specific circumstances:

  • With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to enhance your Strava or Garmin posts with personal best badges
  • Service Providers: We use trusted service providers for hosting and infrastructure (e.g., cloud storage). These providers are contractually obligated to keep your data confidential and secure
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government regulation
  • Safety and Protection: To protect the rights, property, or safety of Personal Best Pace, our users, or the public

Integration with Strava and Garmin

When you connect your Strava or Garmin account:

  • We access only the activity data necessary to track your personal bests
  • We use OAuth 2.0 authentication (we never see or store your Strava/Garmin password)
  • You can revoke access at any time through your Strava/Garmin account settings
  • Activity enhancements (badges) are posted only with your explicit permission

Your use of Strava and Garmin is also governed by their respective privacy policies.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption at rest for sensitive data
  • Secure authentication protocols
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Access controls limiting who can view your data (only you and authorized system processes)

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Data Rights (GDPR) Access, correct, delete, portability, object, restrict—withdraw consent anytime. Response: 1 month (extendable). Request: info@personalbestpace.com

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

  • Your personal information and fitness data are permanently deleted within 30 days
  • We may retain anonymized, aggregated data for service improvement
  • Backups are purged within 90 days
  • Some data may be retained longer if required by law

Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies to:

  • Keep you logged in
  • Remember your preferences
  • Analyze site performance

We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Children’s Privacy

Personal Best Pace is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

International Users

Personal Best Pace is operated from the Netherlands. If you are accessing our service from outside the Netherlands, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the Netherlands or other countries. By using our service, you consent to this transfer.
